Unique Pieces

Community Insights
The set has received praise from the community for its detailed design and build quality. However, some users have pointed out minor stability issues with the wings and alignment challenges during assembly. “The wings can be a bit unstable, requiring extra care during assembly,” one builder noted. Despite these small flaws, the set’s overall appeal remains high, making it a favourite among LEGO and Star Wars fans alike.
Additional Improvements: Detailed Assembly Insights
Building the X-Wing involves some intricate steps, particularly with the wing mechanism and cockpit details. The adjustable wing mechanism, using Technic-based structures, can be challenging to perfect. Some builders found the wings slightly unstable, requiring patience and precision. “Mastering the wing mechanism feels like a Jedi trial—challenging yet immensely rewarding,” noted a seasoned builder. Additionally, the cockpit involves several small parts that must fit perfectly to achieve the desired look. The retractable targeting computer, while a nice touch, adds to the complexity. “The cockpit’s detail is fantastic but fiddly—every piece needs to be just right,” highlighted a user.
Stability and Handling
The size and design of the model can cause stability issues, especially with the wings and side panels. Extra care is needed when moving the model to avoid unsettling its balance. “Handling the completed model requires a delicate touch to avoid unsettling its stability,” advised a reviewer. This is a common observation across multiple reviews, indicating that while the model is sturdy overall, its larger, more detailed parts can be sensitive to movement.
Maintenance and Play Features
The operational landing gear and an accessory cart with tools allow builders to simulate maintenance and repairs, echoing scenes from the Rebel base. This adds another dimension of play, as builders can engage in repair missions or prepare the X-Wing for its next sortie. “The maintenance features are a fun addition, letting you role-play as if you’re in the Rebel Alliance,” a builder highlighted. Additionally, the model includes hidden compartments and dynamic components, adding an element of discovery and surprise. These features encourage builders to explore and engage with the model beyond the initial build. “Finding hidden compartments feels like uncovering secrets of the Star Wars universe,” noted a fan.
Conclusion
Despite minor stability and alignment issues, the LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing Starfighter 75355 remains a highly sought-after set for its detailed design and interactive features. Its blend of display and play elements makes it a versatile addition to any LEGO or Star Wars collection. By combining meticulous craftsmanship with engaging functionality, this set truly stands out as both a collectible and a playset.

Hi Lou,
Your review of the LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing Starfighter 75355 brought back some great memories for me. I looked up the history of the X-wing and remembered it first appeared in *Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope*, during the epic Battle of Yavin. It was in this battle that Luke Skywalker, with R2-D2, piloted the iconic T-65B X-wing starfighter, known as Red Five, to rescue Princess Leia.
For LEGO and Star Wars fans, this set is a dream come true. Adding Disney into the mix makes it even more exciting. Your detailed review made me imagine how fun it would be to build this set and recreate those thrilling battles in my mind. Thank you for sharing such an enjoyable and insightful Review.

Hey there! I just checked out your review of the LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing Starfighter 75355, and it was an awesome read. You did a fantastic job detailing the intricate design and features of the set. I loved how you highlighted the accuracy of the model and the impressive attention to detail, like the moving wings and the mini R2-D2—super cool!
I do have a couple of questions, though. How long did it take you to build the set, and were there any parts that were particularly challenging or fun? Also, how do you think this set compares to other UCS models in terms of build experience and display value? Thanks for sharing such a great review—it’s definitely got me excited to start my own LEGO project!
Hey Bob,
Thanks for checking out the review! I’m glad you enjoyed the detailed look at the LEGO Star Wars UCS X-Wing Starfighter 75355. It was quite the adventure to build and explore all the intricate features.
To answer your first question, the build time for me was spread out over a weekend, taking about 14 hours in total. I took my time with it, savouring each step to really experience the build and learn about its challenges and features. After disassembling it, I managed to rebuild it in about 10 hours, so it’s definitely a project that can keep you engaged for a good amount of time.
Regarding the challenging parts, the wings were a bit tricky, especially getting the mechanism right for the adjustable S-foils. It’s a delicate balance, but once you get it, the wings really add to the model’s dynamic display. The cockpit details were also fun yet fiddly, requiring careful attention to make sure everything fits perfectly.
As for how this set compares to other UCS models, it stands out for its display value and iconic design. Unlike the UCS A-Wing or the Landspeeder, the X-Wing has a bit more historical significance in the LEGO Star Wars lineup. Its clean design with fewer greebles and the printed components make it look sleek and accurate. While it may not be the most complex UCS build, its visual appeal and the nostalgic factor make it a favourite among many builders.
Thanks for the great questions! I hope you enjoy your own LEGO project as much as I did with this one.
Lou
Hey Lou,
As a huge fan of both Star Wars and LEGO, I have to say, your review of the LEGO Star Wars UCS X-wing Starfighter (75355) has me absolutely thrilled! The level of detail and accuracy in this set is truly remarkable. I can’t help but admire the iconic design and the attention to detail that brings this Starfighter to life. The inclusion of the R2-D2 minifigure is a fantastic touch, adding that extra dose of authenticity.
Did you know that the first LEGO Star Wars set was Luke’s Landspeeder? I didn’t know that until I read your post. Your review does an excellent job of highlighting the set’s features and providing insights into the building process. This is a must-read review for anyone interested in LEGO and Star Wars collectibles.
Thank you for sharing this comprehensive and exciting review! By the way, Lou, can you tell me how many LEGO Star Wars UCS (Ultimate Collector Series) sets did LEGO introduce?
Marios
Hey Marios,
Thanks for the kind words! I’m thrilled to hear you enjoyed my review of the LEGO Star Wars UCS X-wing Starfighter (75355). The level of detail in these sets is truly something else, right? The R2-D2 minifigure adds that perfect touch of authenticity to the whole set.
Regarding your question about how many LEGO Star Wars UCS (Ultimate Collector Series) sets LEGO has introduced, as of now, there are 40 sets in the UCS lineup. These sets have been released over the years, starting with the TIE Interceptor and X-wing Fighter back in 2000. The UCS series includes iconic ships and scenes, such as the Millennium Falcon, the Death Star, and even Yoda.
Each set in the UCS series is designed with incredible detail and complexity, aimed at older builders who appreciate the intricacies and scale of these models. The Millennium Falcon set, for example, has over 7,500 pieces and is one of the largest and most detailed LEGO sets ever made. The UCS series truly captures the essence of the Star Wars universe.
