  1. You makes me remember the enthusiasm my late father use to come home with any time he gets his lego space shuttle. Like you rightly described it, they use to come in black and white. And the astraunault idea help my father tell stories that did not exists. As children, we were always excited to listen to him and he was a good story teller. I like your conclusion, they are not mere toys, but a journey into creativity

  2. Lego is an absolute classic when it comes to building toys. I regard it as the best toy when it comes to creativity, buildability, innovation and pure enjoyment in building things. With two boys in the house, Lego was always our go-to choice for gifts for birthdays, Christmas or “spoiling” occasions.

One of their favourite sets were the castles, so we ended up with 4 different castles. And the battles that were fought between the castles and their armies, were endless, and very entertaining as well (well, for me as a mom).

With both boys now living abroad, I recently unpacked all the Lego and started cleaning it. I ended up washing some of it inside washbags in the washing machine, but didn’t know if it was recommended? It is interesting to see that you mention making a paste with baking soda and water. I will remember it for next time I need to clean Lego.

I think Lego will remain a classic, but they might need to find a replacement for traditional, fossil fuel, plastic to please some environmental activists. Is Lego looking at incorporating plant based plastic in some of their pieces?

Thank you for sharing the joy of building with Lego sets.

    • Hi LineCowley, thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with LEGO sets and how they’ve been a source of creativity and joy for your family. It’s great to hear that you’ve enjoyed the castles and battles too. Washing LEGO in washbags can help keep them clean, and using a paste of baking soda and water is indeed a good idea for future cleaning. As for your question about plant-based plastic, LEGO has been making efforts to become more sustainable, including exploring plant-based materials for their bricks. While they have made some progress, it’s always good to keep an eye on their official announcements for the latest updates. Keep enjoying the timeless fun of LEGO building!
