The process of constructing Dunder Mifflin’s iconic spaces—from Michael Scott’s quirky office to the bustling desk of Jim and Dwight—brought the show’s charming and humorous world into tangible form. The set’s attention to detail, particularly the minifigures and office accessories, adds a layer of authenticity that fans of the series will truly appreciate.
Highlights and Challenges
The instruction booklet was intuitive and user-friendly, making the building experience smooth and straightforward. It includes fun trivia and references from The Office, enhancing the enjoyment and connection to the series. The Easter eggs, like Jim’s infamous pranks and Kevin’s chili spill, are cleverly integrated, adding an extra element of surprise and delight.
However, the build isn’t without its challenges. Some smaller pieces require careful handling and attention, which can be slightly tricky, especially for less experienced builders. Despite this, the challenges are manageable and contribute to a rewarding overall experience.
Balancing Complexity and Enjoyment
While the set offers a fun and engaging building process, it may lack the complexity that seasoned LEGO builders seek. With a recommended age of 18+, the difficulty level seems tailored more toward mature themes rather than intricate assembly. Personally, I believe the age recommendation could be lowered. Since younger builders with an interest in The Office or LEGO would likely find enjoyment in constructing this set. However, its thematic appeal might be lost on those unfamiliar with the series.

Overall, the LEGO Ideas The Office set succeeds in capturing the spirit of Dunder Mifflin, offering a blend of nostalgia and creativity for fans of the show. While the LEGO community and various sources have praised the set for its accomplishments, I personally feel that the value for money is a bit high given the set’s size and display potential. Despite the overall high ratings, I think the set’s dollar value could be reconsidered, as it lacks the visual impact and piece count that some other sets offer at a similar price point.
Playability and Minifigure Appeal
In my opinion, the best features of this set are its playability and the minifigures, which truly steal the show. The detailed accessories make it a fun and engaging set to play with, allowing for creative storytelling and role-play. The possibilities for personal additions or enhancements, such as incorporating other sets or creating custom scenarios, add to its appeal.
Considerations on Overall Rating and Collectability
However, considering the price and the number of pieces, I believe the overall rating should be slightly lower than what the community suggests. The collectability value is somewhat diminished by these factors, as well as the limited display potential. The lack of complexity and appeal to younger builders may also limit its audience.
Lou’s Final Thoughts: A Fun but Imperfect Set
Overall, I think it’s a great set with a lot of potential for enhancements, and it’s certainly fun to play with. However, it could benefit from a more competitive price point and additional pieces to boost its collectability and display value. The lack of complexity and appeal to younger builders may also limit its audience. While it’s a fantastic addition for fans of The Office, it might not be the first choice for collectors seeking a more challenging or visually striking LEGO set.

Lou LEGO The Office Review – And it’s a fan Favourite
Hey Lou, thanks a bunch of bricks for the amazing review of the LEGO The Office set.
Your detailed tribute to the 15 minifigures in the set and the highly detailed build process was a godsend of information for anyone looking to get this set. The fun facts about The Office and the attention to every little detail really bring the Dunder Mifflin office to life. This review answers it all—wow, what a review it was!
Here are two questions to consider:
1. How does the collaborative voting process on the LEGO Ideas platform influence the types of sets that eventually get produced?
2. What impact do fan-driven projects like “The Office” set have on the overall brand identity and community perception of LEGO?
Thanks for such an incredible review, Lou!
Jake
Hi Jake,
Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to check out my review of the LEGO The Office set! I’m thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the detailed breakdown of the minifigures and the overall build process. It’s always a pleasure to bring the magic of LEGO and a beloved show like The Office to life for fans like yourself.
To answer your first question, the collaborative voting process on the LEGO Ideas platform is a powerful way to democratize the creation of new sets. It allows fans to pitch their ideas and rally support from the community. When a project reaches 10,000 votes, it gets reviewed by LEGO, which evaluates its feasibility, marketability, and alignment with the brand. This process helps ensure that the sets LEGO produces have a strong fan base and are likely to succeed in the market, as they are directly shaped by consumer demand.
As for your second question, fan-driven projects like “The Office” set significantly impact LEGO’s brand identity and community perception. They reinforce LEGO’s image as a brand that listens to its community and values creativity. These projects also deepen the connection between LEGO and various fandoms, creating a unique synergy that brings new, passionate audiences to the LEGO universe. By producing sets that resonate deeply with fans, LEGO strengthens its reputation as a versatile and inclusive brand, embracing everything from traditional themes to pop culture phenomena.
Thanks again for your fantastic feedback and insightful questions, Jake! If you ever have more questions or need more LEGO insights, don’t hesitate to reach out.

I can’t believe this! Now Lego really have covered everyone. I already know someone I’m going to gift this to. Every detail is added. You can even lift the receivers of the phones. The office plant. The lid of the photocopier machine.
I agree with the diehard fans that a bigger office would be desirable. This is great for ornamental value, but it would be fantastic if separate extensions could be bought and additions made for those that desire it, perhaps with connections to specific memorable scenes from the shows.
Thank you for your insights, Michelle! That’s the beauty of Lego: with some imagination and inspired ideas, you can customize and expand any set. Your suggestion for separate extensions related to memorable scenes is a brilliant idea. If you ever decide to design or modify a set, I’m sure the Lego community would love to see your creation. It’s all about bringing those imaginative ideas to life!
Hey a great post you have here!
Lego is awesome and fun for not only children but adults alike! Some of the figures are just so admirable and it is interesting to see where they draw their inspiration from. It is nice to know where they got the concept for this set, an amazing work, that can be seen through the positive reviews!
Definitely a trip down memory lane for some!
Have a great day!
Thank you, Sariyah! It’s wonderful to hear your appreciation for the depth of inspiration behind Lego sets. The Dunder Mifflin set indeed brings nostalgia for many fans. Enjoy your building adventures and have a fantastic day too!
Lou
Hi, The office is definitely a cool idea for Lego. This show has so many cool characters that are so much like office coworkers you would have in real life.
dwight is my favorite character. I think that the nostalgia factor is good with this one. Not to mention that eventually this would be a good collectors item. As it’s such a popular and successful show.
would you say that this would be a collectors item, or just more for enjoyment or as a gift?
Hey Jake,
I couldn’t agree more! “The Office” and its quirky characters, especially Dwight, resonate with so many of us because they remind us of our own office shenanigans. The nostalgia factor indeed plays a significant role.
As for your question, the LEGO Ideas Office Dunder Mifflin set has the potential to be both a collector’s item and a source of enjoyment. Given the show’s widespread popularity and the uniqueness of this set, it could certainly appreciate in value over time. However, it also serves as a wonderful gift or a delightful build experience for fans of the series. Why not both, right?
Happy building!
Lou
